Current and Effective Instagram Growth Strategies

Instagram is a global platform, which means they are changing daily. The algorithm regularly updates, sometime multiple times a day.

While it may not be as easy as it once was to grow organically on the platform, some methods work, have worked and will continue to work.

Post Quality Content

Quality content is not just an image. It has to tell a story. Picture this, an image or video where you cannot make anything out because the quality is so poor. Do you choose to post that image?

Of course, you don’t. You want your images and video to be considered good quality because those images will get more engagement. The average social media post gets less than a second engagement. The infinite scroll means more people will float on past your content unless it is of a certain quality.

Quality vs Quantity.

While the algorithm demands at least one post a day, you can use tools to ensure that your images have a certain minimal quality to increase your engagement. Free tools like Pexels, Canva, and Unsplash are beneficial in that regard. Just be sure to choose an image that sits lower on the search terms, since this will mean it is not used as often so appear more unique.

Videos, Stories, and Reels

Reels is the new hotness on the gram. Essentially it is a TikTok clone. A lot of the content that is on there has been posted somewhere else originally. That is starting to change. Since Instagram is one of the most popular platforms in the globe, the organic reach of Reels is high right now.

Video engagement, in general, is quite high at the moment. You can also use Instagram’s Stories feature to go “live” right now. This is essentially a way to live stream to your followers. Live broadcasts allow you to reach your audience at that moment. You can use a third-party service like Streamyard, to go live from your computer. It is highly advisable to use a tripod, or gimbal when live streaming, as it will ensure the best quality for your broadcast.

Scheduling

Want a social media productivity hack? Post scheduling is a way to batch your content for the coming days, allowing you to concentrate on tweaking your growth strategy, without having to worry about content creation.

Using a social media scheduling tool will allow you to create content in batches, then schedule the post date ahead of time. Popular scheduling apps like Buffer, Later, and Facebooks Creator Studio, give you the power to schedule content in advance. I find these are the best for scheduling, although I have used others.

Analytics.

Instagram analytics will help you dig into the statistics of your account. It shows you what is working on your account. What post got the most engagement. What content got the most likes. When your followers are most active. In-app Instagram Insights and Keyhole.io are great tools for gathering and reviewing this data. It will allow you to track what performed the best, so you can repeat content of that type in future.

Hashtags

Originally designed to track ideas, hashtags are now an integral part of any Instagram strategy. They help you categorise posts, increase your views, and attract more followers. They are a powerful tool to help you reach your preferred audience. Both Keyhole.io and Hashtagify can help you with your hashtag analytics. It is also a good way to track your campaign, as you can have a specific hashtag assigned to any organic social campaign, such as a competition or give away.

These tips and tricks will help you grow your account organically, attracting real followers.
